Brendan Rodgers, Celtic’s manager, expanded his left-back pool in the summer by signing Alex Valle on loan from Barcelona to challenge Greg Taylor’s hold on the position.
The latter is still regarded as the preferred option at this time. Taylor has made ten appearances for the Bhoys this season and has three assists. However, his positional counterpart has performed admirably for the reigning Scottish Premiership champions in his first innings. Valle has seamlessly integrated into Rodgers’ ideas, as praised by Peter Grant.
The loanee has two assists from four appearances, including a viral role in Adam Idah’s goal against St Johnstone last month.
Both players have emerged as valuable components of the roster under Rodgers, but their situations will need to be resolved between now and next summer.

Taylor’s contract position at Celtic remains unclear despite the passage of time. If no movement is made between now and the conclusion of the holiday season, the Scotland international may be available in January to discuss a pre-contract.
The 26-year-old Celtic Park player is part of the seasoned core that has won numerous domestic trophies. With 183 appearances, he has scored eight goals and assisted 28 times.
Rodgers wants Taylor to sign a Celtic contract extension, as he stated to the press last month: “He’s a wonderful player for us. He’s excellent at making that position work and look the way we want it to. He understands that we sincerely want him to stay, and ideally so do his representation and the club.
Valle joined the Bhoys on loan from Barcelona for £1.3 million. Despite a promising start, his contract does not include a buy option.
While his primary emphasis for the time being will be to establish himself in Glasgow, he also extended his contract at his parent club for another year before moving to Celtic.
Truthfully, it remains to be seen whether a permanent deal could be viable for Valle. It would likely be dependent on a willingness from all parties, though there is no guarantee that happens.
