Cowboys Coach McCarthy on Micah: ‘Whip Out Your Vocabulary!’

Micah Parsons, a pass-rushing linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, has been vocal about the lack of flags he has received this

Cowboys Coach McCarthy

season. He keeps offensive lines up at night as they try to figure out how to stop him, which involves holding a lot.

In just his third season, Parsons has already recorded 30 quarterback hits, 15 tackles for loss (leading all Cowboys), and 13

sacks (his third straight season with 13+ sacks). And if that wasn’t enough, Micah leads the NFL in pressures (97), pressure

percent (23) and pass-rush grade (94.0) according to PFF. He is a one-man wrecking team whose speed is unreal for a player his size.

So trying to describe Parsons’ skill set and what he is able to do on the field certainly is challenging … but head coach Mike

McCarthy is doing his best. “It’s distinct, unique … Whip out your vocabulary,” McCarthy said. “I don’t know if you’ve ever … I mean the speed, his get-off, and his ability to split two.

He’s the number one pressure player in the National Football League. He has a tremendous skill set, he’s definitely unique.”

With the Detroit Lions coming to AT&T Stadium, Parsons will again look to create havoc in the backfield as Jared Goff and the

fifth-ranked offense (27.5 points per) come into the game fresh off claiming the NFC North title.

But while Dallas has several pass rushers who can get after Goff, Parsons still gets the most attention.

Parsons is a dangerous player, according to Goff. They can shift him around, which is an advantage they have with him.

They engage in numerous activities with him. We need to be informed of his current status because he is incredibly capable.

If Parsons dominates a game against the Lions, who are headed to the playoffs, “Big Mike” may need to expand his language when characterizing Micah.
