More Liverpool players were in action on Friday evening, as more international games concluded.

The Reds have up to 16 players abroad on senior duty for their countries this fortnight, and their early performances have been varied.

England’s Trent Alexander-Arnold struggled in their loss to Greece, but Ireland’s Caoimhin Kelleher was praised for his contribution to a crucial victory.

On Friday, Liverpool fans were focused on Budapest, where Hungary hosted the Netherlands, the only international team containing many Liverpool players.

Virgil van Dijk had a bad night, as he was sent off for two yellow cards in rapid succession.

In addition to Van Dijk’s unusual outburst, the game featured a midfield clash between Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Gravenberch has been a revelation for Liverpool this season. Much has been said and written about the 22-year-old who has moved up dramatically under Arne Slot.

Gravenberch’s success for the Reds has resulted in him finally earning a berth in the Netherlands’ starting XI.

The midfielder was selected for the European Championship in the summer but did not play a single minute in Germany.

Ronald Koeman believes he deserves to play alongside Reds colleagues Cody Gakpo and Van Dijk after his recent resurgence at Anfield.

Szoboszlai has no such fears. The 23-year-old is Hungary’s captain and top player. He plays every game he can.

As a result, Szoboszlai will play three of his Liverpool teammates on Friday, including one of the midfielders with whom he has worked so well this season.

Before the game, a fan on X saw that Gravenberch was excited to see his Liverpool teammate on the pitch.

Gravenberch greets Szoboszlai with a huge smile as the two teams go together for the usual pre-match handshake. Rather than simply tapping the Hungarian’s hand and moving on, Liverpool’s No.38 offers a hearty hug while grinning from ear to ear.

Who won Gravenberch against Szoboszlai?

Following Hungary’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands on Friday, another video of Gravenberch and Szoboszlai circulated.

Gravenberch has already become well-known this season for refining a technique in which he allows the ball to slide across his body while turning an opposing player.

In the early phases of the game, Szoboszlai was observed getting done by a smooth Gravenberch roll, which he must have seen a million times at the AXA Training Center.

Overall, Hungary fared better than the Netherlands. Despite rallying for a late equalizer, Denzel Dumfries headed in a Gakpo free-kick, the Dutch did not have their greatest day at work.

Still, additional evidence that Gravenberch’s performance is not a fluke, and Szoboszlai seemed to have a solid game as well. These two could run Liverpool’s midfield for many years.
