Liam Delap, Omari Hutchinson, and Wes Burns win caps for Ipswich Town

This evening, three Ipswich Town players earned international caps, with mixed results for England Under-21s and Wales. The hosts dominated possession in the first half, but failed to create more than a handful of half-chances. After the break, Delap scooped a shot over the bar from just inside the box, before Hutchinson diverted a header into the gloves of goalkeeper Ruslan Neshcheret from a tight angle. Defender Taras Mykhavko opened the scoring on his debut for Ukraine.

It took until the 88th minute for England to equalize, with James McAtee blasting a free-kick off the bar from the edge of the box, before the Manchester City forward slotted low into the bottom corner in the second minute of stoppage time to win the match. Hutchinson was replaced in the 64th minute by Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens. Delap, on the other hand, played all 90 minutes in Dorset. To do so, they’ll need to defeat Azerbaijan on Tuesday evening and hope Ukraine loses points against Serbia. If they don’t, they’ll have to finish among the top three second-placed teams, which they can achieve if they avoid defeat at Ashton Gate.

Wales’ Nations League B campaign continued with a 2-2 draw against Iceland, with Wes Burns and Nathan Broadhead making their debuts on the bench under Craig Bellamy. Tottenham Hotspur’s Brennan Johnson scored in the 11th minute, and Fulham winger Harry Wilson extended the lead at the half-hour mark.

Burns now has nine caps, while Town teammate Nathan Broadhead, who has yet to play competitively this season, was an unused replacement. The Dragons are currently fourth in Group 4, with five points from their first three games. Kieffer Moore, a former Ipswich loanee, started for Wales and Dane Scarlett came on late for England U21s, both earning caps.
