Kasper Schmeichel on Why he Chose Celtic Over Lucrative Offers

Kasper Schmeichel has reiterated his dedication to Celtic, turning off more financially tempting offers in favour of

the team’s title aspirations and European competition. Schmeichel was lured to Celtic by the excitement of playing in the Champions League and the chance to play in front  of 60,000 fervent fans at Celtic Park after he reconnected

with former Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers. After a brief spell at Anderlecht, the 36-year-old, who has over 100 caps for Denmark, signed a one-year contract  with Celtic with a one-year option.

“Playing for the title, as I am doing at Celtic right now, and at the same time being at the highest level in the Champions League, motivates me,” he said to Ekstra Bladet.

“When I reflect on my career, the few Champions League games I have played have been the highlights for me. Obviously, I have a very particular place in my heart for the Premier League.”However, choosing to go to Celtic was

simple for me because I’ve joined a Champions League team that needs to  win every game and draw 60,000 spectators to its home games. Those are the exact kinds of obstacles that spur me

forward. With his sights focused on maintaining his competitiveness at the top level, Schmeichel’s experience and

leadership  have already shown their worth. His presence will be essential as Celtic pursues both domestic glory and a deep run in Europe.

He’s done an excellent job of stepping in for Joe Hart.Already, the goalkeeper’s distribution has won over fans. He made some outstanding stops even amid Dortmund’s  battering to keep the German team’s score from going above ten. What happens to the goalkeeper’s contract next summer will be interesting to watch.
