Daizen Maeda congratulates former Celtic team mate after first international goal

Daizen Maeda was among many who praised Oh Hyeon-gyu after he scored his first-ever goal for his country, South Korea, in a 2-0 victory over Jordan.

The youthful striker transferred to Genk during the summer after Adam Idah’s arrival blocked the door to first team appearances, ending their 18-month partnership at Celtic.

Oh scored once per 100 minutes at Celtic, which is a respectable minutes per goal record, but he didn’t challenge Kyogo Furuhashi to the same extent after Giorgos Giakoumakis left.

After Oh Hyeon-gyu scored his first-ever goal for his country, South Korea defeated Jordan 2-0 on the road. Daizen Maeda was one of those extending congratulations to him.

In his 105 minutes of activity, Oh has scored three goals in eight appearances for Genk coming off the bench. Last night, he entered the game in the 51st minute and scored South Korea’s second goal seventeen minutes later.

Oh’s next game is a home game against Iraq on Tuesday, when he hopes to build on his victory over Jordan.
