Norwich City interest in Osayi-Samuel deal is unneeded: Opinion

Norwich City plans to sign new players in January, while Johannes Hoff Thorup continues to impress at Carrow Road.

Norwich City supported new manager Thorup by selling key players in the summer, allowing him to invest in new players.

The losses of Gabriel Sara and Jonathan Rowe were disappointing, but Ante Crnac, Amankwah Forson, and Oscar Schwartau are expected to become valuable assets at Carrow Road.

Despite the summer activities, new enhancements are planned for January. Bright Osayi-Samuel, a player from Fenerbahce, appears to be on the Championship club’s radar for potential signings.

He has performed well in Turkey since leaving QPR, and his contract expires next summer. Although the 26-year-old would be an interesting acquisition, he is not a necessary one for Norwich City.

A potential great at right back.

Osayi-Samuel may be known on these shores as a quick, clever winger. However, with Fenerbahce, he has moved farther back on the pitch, first as a wing-back before being utilized as an out-and-out right-back, although one with the freedom to play forward.

Norwich City’s starting position may be secured for the foreseeable future.

Kellen Fisher, a little-known talent from Bromley, made 14 senior appearances but mostly served as Jack Stacey’s backup. Fisher, on the other hand, has replaced his more experienced opponent in the early parts of the new season thanks to some outstanding defensive performances.

The 20-year-old has demonstrated a strong will to defend and has immediately established himself as a fan favourite. He appears to be a tremendous potential, and it would be surprising if Thorup dropped him from the starting lineup in the short and long term.

One rationale behind the Osayi-Samuel transaction.

Signing Osayi-Samuel to play in his preferred right-back position would be a risky move for Norwich City. It would most certainly replace the rapidly developing Fisher, leaving the ranks slightly congested.

One possible exception would be if Thorup intended to bring him in to replace Osayi-Samuel on the right side. Then a transaction makes sense.

Even so, the Canaries have a variety of wingers and flexible offensive players who can play out wide, but the Nigerian has a decent opportunity of establishing himself as a starter further up the pitch.

Although Norwich City is rumored to be interested, there is no need for a new right-back since Fisher and Stacey already provide experience, cover, and competition.
