Connor Stalions Says He Played 4D Chess By Sharing Stolen Signs With Ohio State

The ancient maxim “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” has served as the foundation for several unexpected friendships throughout history, including what appears to be a covert operation orchestrated by former Michigan worker Connor Stalions to funnel some of the stolen signs he got to Ohio State.

Most college football fans are familiar with the wild saga that unfolded after Connor Stalions was thrust into the spotlight last season. He orchestrated a years-long scheme to give the Michigan Wolverines an edge over other teams by travelling to games featuring future opponents to steal signs used to communicate play calls from the sidelines.

Those revelations surfaced during a season in which Michigan won the national championship, and while Jim Harbaugh was suspended for a few games as a result of the scandal, the NCAA has taken its time conducting what is still an ongoing investigation into the matter.

We learnt more about what happened thanks to a Netflix documentary that delves into the case, and Stallion (who is presently the head coach of a high school football team in Detroit) hasn’t been shy about revealing the complexities of his master plan.

During an interview on Bussin’ With the Boys, Stalion revealed that he went out of his way to help Michigan win the title by sharing information with their adversary, the Ohio State Buckeyes.

In 2021, Michigan experienced a setback in its pursuit for a Big Ten championship with a loss to Michigan State, and as the season came to a close, the Wolverines found themselves in a situation where they risked being on the outside looking in if the Spartans defeated Ohio State.

Stalions described what happened at that time, saying:

“They played Ohio State the week before we did, so we needed Ohio State to win.”

I handed Michigan State’s signals to a friend—I changed all the logos and made it look like it came from a different school—who may have given it to another friend, who then took it to Ohio State and said, ‘Hey, I received this from so-and-so at Name Your School University.

I’m sure they already had them, but this merely verified it. Then they won by 60-0.”

The score was actually 56-7, and Michigan took care of business at home the following week, defeating the Buckeyes 42-27 to secure their spot in the Big Ten Championship Game against Iowa (their 42-3 victory in that game guaranteed them a spot in the College Football Playoff, but they lost to Georgia in the semifinals).

What a planet!
