‘Not beautiful’ to ‘ridiculous’: What opposition managers have said about West Brom

With nine games played so far this season, West Brom has accumulated 17 points and is now ranked fourth in the Championship.

That’s been a rather strong start, albeit after winning five of the first six games, performances have declined recently.

This season, Albion has had to deal with a variety of challenges, including some major clubs and several new boys.

Here are the comments made by a few of the managers:

Daniel Farke after Leeds’ 0-0 draw at The Hawthorns

Because Carlos’ [Corberan’s] teams are consistently well-organized and excellent with the ball, they are also always the tallest and most physically dominant team in the league.

Playing against them is frequently difficult and not visually appealing. However, it’s always done at an extremely high tactical level.

Additionally, you must be precise. I’d like to thank my players today for that. Many thanks together with a response for us.

It’s unquestionably a priceless and crucial point because, in all honesty, while I have won multiple times in this league, I haven’t done so much away at West Brom. This is a difficult place, I realize that.”

They are a really strong team, and I believe their manager is a top candidate to take over as a Premier League manager soon, so it will be an extremely difficult game.

It will be a significant test for us. We’re willing to take on the challenge and are up for it.

“I expect us to make a really good performance away at West Brom.”

after the game

“The first half was incredible – the opposition left us speechless.”

The players were presumably terrified as well as feeling extremely constrained in their play.

“We truly couldn’t handle them. However, we played excellent box defense up to the goal because the attack was forceful.”

Wayne Rooney criticizes Josh Maja following Plymouth’s 1-0 loss at the Albion

“He’s a fascinating player who can be challenging to prepare for. We knew he would slide in and assume the “false nine” position.

“At times, I thought we handled him okay, but when a player is confident in his ability to score goals, he seems to always find that one moment when he can make the difference.

“I felt like we handled him pretty effectively at times, but he makes the play that ends up winning the game. He’s a talented player, and West Brom is a solid group with a wealth of experience and results-driven ability. That might be the next step for us.

Michael Carrick following his team’s 1-0 victory at The Hawthorns

Tonight’s game had the atmosphere of a legitimate, respectable match. Not that others don’t, but coming here, this one had a little bit of an advantage. It’s not an easy place to be, we

Because they have skilled players and experience, they are a good squad that will finish the season in the top half of the league. We knew we had to perform at our highest level, and I believe we did in many respects.”

Neil Harris, the Millwall manager, before their journey to West Brom

They have a phenomenal squad for the Championship and are a top-six team. It is undoubtedly among the best in the competition, in my opinion, particularly near the top of the pitch.

Every position on the team has two players, which is more than enough to be found in most championship teams. They have been so good at the top end that Jed Wallace has only started one game this season.

“Especially when they play at home, we know the intent they have.”

Following the 0-0 draw

We showed a great deal of respect for West Brom’s advantages and the caliber of players on the team and in the bench.

“We anticipated that they would dominate the football. We had a strategy that was obvious to all. We did a fantastic job at it.

The statistics indicate that West Brom controlled possession of the ball, but they also played in the places that we intended them to play.

“It was a really respectful performance away from home, against a team we expect to be in the top three or four,” the player said.
