Las Vegas Raiders’ Christian Wilkins is placed on injured reserve following surgery on his foot

According to a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity since no official announcement has been made, Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Christian Wilkins will be placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery for a broken foot. He will be out for an unknown period of time.

Wilkins was injured in Sunday’s 34-18 loss to Denver. He suffered a Jones fracture, a break in the bone that connects the pinkie toe to the base of the foot.

Wilkins’ placement on IR means he will miss at least the next four games. This Sunday, the Raiders will host Pittsburgh.

This is another setback for Oakland’s defensive line.

Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Jack Jones celebrates with teammates following an interception.

Defensive end Malcolm Koonce is gone for the season due to a ruptured ACL, and pass rusher Maxx Crosby missed one game with a high ankle sprain but returned to face the Broncos.

The Raiders have also had linebacker injuries, with Divine Deablo (oblique) and Luke Masterson (knee) ruled out for the game against the Broncos.

Wilkins, one of the top interior defensive lineman in the NFL, was the Raiders’ most major free agent addition this year. He agreed to a four-year, $110 million contract with $82.75 million guaranteed.

He has spent the last five seasons with Miami and is coming off a year in which he recorded nine sacks and 23 quarterback hits. This season, Wilkins has two sacks and six quarterback hits.
