Royals infielder enrages Yankees fans by mocking Carlos Rodón ALDS Game 2 trash talk

Carlos Rodón, a left-handed pitcher for the New York Yankees, started Game 2 of the ALDS with arguably the finest inning of the season. He was running on all cylinders, to the point where he sought out new ones to fire on. He was nailing fastballs, flicking sliders, and walking off the mound after each out, pointing his tongue at the Kansas City Royals’ dugout after his third straight strikeout.

Naturally, the Royals reacted by… waiting it out. Rodón’s final 2023 start resulted in eight runs in the first inning, which they witnessed firsthand. They were aware that the worm could turn (and back on Matt Blake).

And wouldn’t you know it? The opposing team in a Yankees postseason series managed to get the last laugh in a game where the home team was primed for victory. That is why the Major League Baseball playoffs are so motivating. If you devote your heart and soul to fandom, wait patiently each winter, and watch passionately each summer, you, too, will be rewarded with the opportunity to embarrass the Yankees.

Maikel Garcia, the Royals’ leadoff hitter, was among of the group who scored four runs on a much flatter version of Rodón in the fourth inning (he singled off Ian Hamilton). After the game, he quickly took to Twitter to warn Rodón about the dangers of partying if you can’t back it up.

Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodón got rocked by KC Royals’ Maikel Garcia trash talk

Garcia had a four-hit game and reached base four times from the leadoff spot, despite his.281 OBP on the season. These are the things that happen to the modern Yankees during October. These are the types of players they let have the last laugh. No one wants Garrett Hampson in the clutch.

The Yankees still have a few opportunities to right the ship, but with momentum in Kansas City’s favour and home field advantage pawned off, they’ll have to hope Kansas City celebrates too soon.
