QPR ace and more: Three stars out of contract in 2025 that West Brom should chase in January.
West Brom’s active summer transfer window has resulted in a great start to the 2024/25 campaign.
Prior to the international break, West Brom were undefeated in six games, with five wins.
Carlos Corberan has had a solid start to the season. The Spaniard took the Baggies to the Championship play-offs but fell short, so he’ll be looking to go one step further this time.
A fruitful summer transfer window has put the club in a position to do so, but the Baggies will not be resting on their laurels come January.
A clever method to bolster the ranks may be to target players who will be out of contract in 2025. West Brom should target three stars who are out of contract next summer.
Ilias Chair – QPR
Ilias Chair is not inexpensive, regardless of his contract position, which might be a concern. The Moroccan’s success in the Championship suggests he might be a long-term option for West Brom’s offensive midfield.
With his QPR contract expiring, it’s probable that he’ll go up a league or to another Championship team, preferably one with greater opportunities for advancement.
Perhaps this is one to return next summer, but it’s worth examining in January.
Rasmus Nicolaisen, FC Toulouse
West Brom will want a long-term defensive option after signing Mason Holgate and Paddy McNair on loan during the summer transfer window.
Rasmus Nicolaisen, a Danish star, might step in to boost the centre-back options. The 27-year-old, who previously spent a year with Portsmouth, is a regular for Ligue 1 club Toulouse.
He has grown well in France and demonstrated leadership ability, making him an excellent alternative at the back.
