Where Celtic rank in global transfer top 100 as EPL quirk fails to mask where the money is.

As everyone is aware, Celtic is a financially stable side, but they also invest a significant amount of money on the pitch each week, as

seen by their placement among the world’s top 100 teams

Using recently released data from the CIES Football Observatory, a statistical model they created specifically for this purpose, along

with techniques from the International Journal of Financial Studies, have been used to determine the transfer worth of clubs

worldwide. Also, they have calculated the worth of the most valuable players at every club in more than 60 leagues across the globe,

which are available here.

With a valuation of €136 million, or £113.9 million in sterling, the Hoops are the only Scottish Premiership team to reach the top century. This places the Parkhead club 84th overall, ahead of Ipswich Town, the newest team in the English Premier League, and

Saudi super spenders Al-Hilal and A-Nassr, who have Neymar and Ronaldo, respectively, in their ranks.

In order to put Celtic’s opponents in the Champions League in perspective, RB Leipzig is only one spot below Borussia Dortmund, who

are rated 18th with a squad value of €639 million. Next up is Atalanta, who are ranked just two spots behind with a €586 million

squad valuation. All of the European rivals appear to be in the same ballpark. Club Brugge, with a €227 million squad worth, is ranked

55th on the list as well.

Real Madrid is followed by Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal in a clear-cut dominance order.. Barcelona is a little bit ahead of

Manchester United, Tottenham, Liverpool, PSG, and their Europa League group, the latter two of which are awaiting Rangers.

Signing of records Arne Engels has a “fair price” index between 14 and €20 million, making him the most valuable player for Celtic.

Surprises will be expected since CIES values rookie striker Hamza Igamane at between €9 and €11 million, making him Rangers’

highest valued player.
