BBC NEWS: Ryan Mmaee absence explained as outcast Stoke City forward ‘very unfortunate’

BBC NEWS: Ryan Mmaee’s absence from Stoke City has been characterized as’very regrettable’.

Ryan Mmaee has yet to play on loan at Rapid Vienna.

Ryan Mmaee was a major summer signing at Stoke City.

Ryan Mmaee, who joined Rapid Vienna on loan from Stoke City, is yet to make an appearance this season.

Mmaee joined Rapid late in the summer transfer window to aid with their injury issue. However, he suffered a muscular strain in his first training session.

The 26-year-old striker, who suffered hamstring and knee problems for Stoke between April and August, is still recovering, but his manager is certain he will still be a valuable addition.

Rapid sporting director Markus Katzer told Sky Austria over the weekend that “he had a medical check and everything was fine.” Unfortunately, he hurt himself at the first training session. That was really bad.

“As long as the squad performs like this, we can make up for it. It is also true that he will play for Rapid and contribute with his talent.”

Rapid won 1-0 away to Altach yesterday and is second in the Austrian Bundesliga, behind only Sturm Graz after nine games, with five victories and three draws.

They are also in the Uefa Conference League after losing to Braga over two legs in the Europa League play-off round. They won 2-1 away at Istanbul Basaksehir last week and have upcoming games against FC Noah, Petrocub Hincesti, Shamrock Rovers, Omonia, and Copenhagen.
