Danilo locked away in Auchenhowie treatment room as Rangers injury news drops

Danilo locked away in Auchenhowie treatment room as Rangers injury news drops.

According to Keith Jackson, Danilo’s injuries have left him in the Rangers treatment room under “lock and key.”

On October 8, a journalist for the Daily Record stated on the newspaper’s website that Cyriel Dessers has been forced to “huff and puff” his way through games by himself because of the Brazilian’s recent injury problems.

Due to various problems, Danilo missed the majority of the 2024–25 season and is now unlikely to play a full 90 minutes until at least November.

Despite the fact that Dessers has scored seven goals in the first few weeks of the season, Rangers fans are likely continually critical of him because of his clumsiness. Jackson offered his opinion on the Rangers striker situation in a letter that read, “That simply can’t happen when the ball bounces off (Dessers’) toes.”

Nevertheless, Dessers is forced to stutter through game after game while Brazilian striker Danillo is kept under strict lock and key in the Auchenhowie treatment room and (Hamza) Igamane appears unprepared to lead the line.

Rangers need to sort out their striker situation

The Gers have had a topsy-turvy campaign, to be polite, thus far and are still miles off the consistent standard a rightly demanding fanbase expects of this great football club.

After seven games of the season, Celtic and Aberdeen have both been unbeaten. Philippe Clement’s team is currently five points behind the pace in third place and is fighting to stay ahead of the pack.

The Belgian has been at Ibrox for almost a year, and while he did win the League Cup, his record has been rather uneven. He had a strong start, but saw a title fight last season fall apart, and he lost to Celtic in the Scottish Cup final.

In an attempt to relieve some of Dessers’ workload, Hamza Igamane was brought in for approximately £2 million in the summer [Football Scotland, June 28]. However, there is a perception that he is not yet ready to start as the striker.

Despite his still-raw performances, the Morocco international has shown glimpses of promise and is clearly a talented player.

Until Danilo’s well-documented fitness difficulties are resolved, Dessers will largely bear the responsibility for the striker. Of course, at just 21 years old, there is still plenty of time for things to change and for the striker to step up.

It is tough for Clement to depend on Danilo as a consistent starter due to his fitness concerns, as Jackson hinted at, leaving him with limited options at the top.

Even though Dessers has scored a respectable amount of goals, he does have a habit of missing easy opportunities, thus more encouragement should be given to this Nigerian international.
