As the New Orleans Saints prepare to play the Tampa Bay Bucs on the road on Sunday, their chances of qualifying for the postseason seem slim.

Fans of the Buccaneers are full of questions regarding the franchise’s future.

In his first season with the Saints, quarterback Derek Carr has struggled through an inconsistent campaign marked by several ailments, and the New Orleanian fan base has many grievances regarding the former star of the Las Vegas Raiders.

During this week’s WWL radio interview, Saints general manager Mickey Loomis spoke with former quarterback Bobby Hebert. During the conversation, the “Cajun Cannon” asked a question that obviously made Loomis uncomfortable.

Saying he’s “the voice of the fans,” Hebert laid out a lengthy question that proposed the idea of drafting a quarterback that can serve as Carr’s heir apparent.

Hebert threw out the name of LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels as one option and pointed to Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick

Mahomes in 2017 as an example of a team taking a quarterback for the future with a starting QB already in place.

“Are y’all willing right now, even though you have the money invested in Derek Carr, are y’all willing to maybe draft a future

quarterback whether it be a Jayden Daniels from LSU or whatever?,” Hebert asked. “You must consider 2025 in addition to ’24.

I’ve heard from fans that, “Look, Alex Smith was the Chiefs quarterback for one year before they handed the torch off.

” Is it possible that, if you truly like a quarterback, you could draft him given what happened there?
