Carlos Corberán insists Albion will be using recent back-to-back defeats against Sheffield Wednesday and

Middlesbrough as “growth motivation.”

After six games, the Baggies led the Sky Bet Championship standings after winning five and drawing one. Nevertheless, they have since experienced back-to-back losses in the second division, so they will be motivated to get a win when Millwall visits town on Saturday afternoon (ko 3pm).

The manager, who firmly believes that there can be no “joy” in football without “suffering,” also talked about how every game has a “message” that gives teams a chance to do better moving ahead, whether they have won or lost.

When the Lions visit The Hawthorns this weekend, Carlos insists Albion will never accept defeat and he wants to see his team respond.

“We have to manage this situation,” stated the Spaniard. In the Championship, it is possible to suffer three straight losses in a terrible week. Unfavorable outcomes are possible.

“Our fans are aware of our shared desire to win games. Even if it’s not feasible, we want to win every single game. I am aware of the difficulty and skill level we face. We are prepared to take on this task and compete.

“We have thousands of challenges to face together. Life and football are similar. You must overcome formidable obstacles. Still, we find this appealing. We enjoy taking on challenges like winning games and satisfying our supporters.

“Because they are aware that winning is challenging, both players and fans take pleasure in winning games. In sports, no one would celebrate goals or triumphs if it were easy to win. As they would always know their team would win, no one would watch games.

“There can be no joy in football without pain. They complement one another. I am therefore well prepared to take on the demands of the Championship. This is football, so you will have some excellent weeks and some bad weeks. The way you handle these situations is crucial, and we must approach them with our best.

“Every win and every loss has a lesson for us, outlining our strengths and areas for improvement. To be able to go on and get ready for the next game, we must get these messages from each one.

“We never want to take a loss and call it good. We detest dropping games. It depresses us and prevents us from celebrating with our followers.

“How you use the setback is what matters.” You will accrue additional defeats if the loss aggravates you and makes you feel weaker. If the defeat encourages you to progress, you will experience less defeats during the season.

“The job this week has been to improve, prepare for the next game and analyse the previous defeats to know how we can be better. To help the players understand why the outcome occurred and how they might prevent certain things from happening again, you must thoroughly analyze the defeats.

“You cannot succeed if you lack belief. You are powerless without demands of your own. These are the two most important factors.

It can be more challenging to identify our shortcomings when we experience success. Sometimes it’s harder to recognize our strengths after a poor outcome. Every game, every loss, is an opportunity to grow and learn.

Arriving at the West Midlands with a record of two wins, two draws, and four losses from their first eight games, Millwall’s opponents were defeated 1-0 at Cardiff City in the middle of the week.

The interaction was characterized by Corberán as a “proper” Championship test.

“They haven’t won away yet, but we hadn’t lost at home before Tuesday night, so we cannot look at statistics. Every game needs to be viewed as a brand-new, unique challenge.

“Our matchup with Millwall was really tough for us last season. Both of our games ended in draws.

They are very quick to transition and very active in the press this season.

“I will never discuss how simple a game is for us in this division. We’ll never have an easy game in this division, which is why I find the Championship so thrilling.

“We are more equipped mentally to tackle this issue. The truth of the Championship, where any side can defeat any team, is what the past week has demonstrated.

“This is a true championship examination. Millwall is a distinct entity. They are good at set-pieces and they are combative in defence.”
