The Oxford Mail has opened a book of condolence for a man after police located a body in Oxfordshire woodland.

At around 12.40pm yesterday (Sunday, October 6), the body of a man was located in woodland near Radley, Abingdon.

Formal identification is yet to take place but officers believe the man to be missing person Dean.

Dean was originally reported missing from Heyford Hill, Oxford on Saturday, September 7.

Detective Sergeant Nathan Adby, of Abingdon CID, said: “Extensive enquiries and searches have been ongoing for Dean since he was reported missing, and very sadly, a body has been located this afternoon by officers and colleagues from Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire.

“Although formal identification has not yet taken place, we believe this to be Dean. His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers.

“Our thoughts are with the family at this very distressing time.

“The death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
