Cerny happy to put nightmare week to bed as Rangers winger bags brace

After scoring twice in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over St Johnstone, Vaclav Cerny has been candid about his recent form struggles.

With two goals just after the interval at Ibrox, the Czech winger gave Philippe Clement’s team three more points going into the international break.

On a season-long loan from Wolfsburg, Cerny deleted his Instagram account following a challenging week on the pitch.

After Rangers defeated Hibs, the 26-year-old apparently vented his wrath against Rangers supporters, drawing criticism from the community.

Along with that, he faced criticism for squandering a crucial opportunity to put Rangers ahead against Lyon on Thursday in the Europa League.

“You know it’s tough,” Player of the Match Cerny said to Premier Sports following St Johnstone’s victory.

“We had to be focused on this game and we’ve done well in moments and struggled in other moments.

“In the end, we won 2-0 so that’s the most important thing.

“I have been struggling in the past games – we all saw that.

“I’m very happy for those two goals and, more importantly, the three points.”

“I’ve been struggling for the past games… so very, very happy for those two goals.”

Rangers captain James Tavernier also praised Cerny, saying: “Vac has been working hard at it. He pulled off two great goals today. We

missed a little bit in the final third but defended really well. It was disappointing to see Ianis sent off after coming back, but you saw

the reception he got today. We are happy with the win and the three points and it’s about getting consistency now by any means

necessary. It’s about being clinical. We are still gelling and improving.”
