How Celtic’s upcoming Champions League opponents got on this weekend

Following their 7-1 drubbing at the hands of Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League last week, Celtic rallied to defeat Ross County 2-1 in Dingwall yesterday (Sunday). The Hoops trailed 1-0 at the half, but an unusual finish from Alistair Johnston on the 75th minute (the player, in his own words, blocked a Cameron McGregor effort) tied the score. With three minutes remaining in normal time, a characteristically skilful Nicolas Kuhn strike completed the victory, maintaining the team’s unbeaten start to the 2024–25 Scottish Premiership campaign.

Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, fell 2-1 to Union Berlin, highlighting the variance in performance levels European football’s highest championship is capable of provoking game-to-game.

Celtic are still to play Atalanta (A), RB Liepzig (H), Club Brugge (H), Dinamo Zagreb (A), Young Boys (H) and Aston Villa (A) in the Champions League.

Before the most recent international break, the Young Boys were down to just 10 players.
