You’ll Never Guess Who Micah Parsons Sees as Cowboys’ Next Big Threat
The Dallas Cowboys’ remaining 2023 schedule is jam-packed with opportunities, but Micah Parsons is already thinking ahead. On his website, the standout defender projected the playoff field.
“The Edge” and complimented the Chicago Bears in particular. Despite a challenging season for the proud Windy City team, Parsons thinks good things are coming. “The Bears (are) really going to be a very good team, a legitimate playoff team next year,” Parsons stated. “They can win out in the NFC North … I think this team can legitimately be a top playoff team.”
Parsons might not be the only one who believes the Bears are a non-playoff team that has the potential to improve by 2024 by the time the regular season finishes in two weeks. With the top pick coming via a trade with the 2-13 Carolina Panthers, Chicago finds itself in an odd situation where they own the first and eighth picks on the active draft board for the next spring.
The Bears (6-9) have won four of their last six games, including a 28-13 victory against division champion Detroit on December 10. Despite the fact that they may need a bit too much assistance to jump onto the forthcoming NFC playoff bracket (two games behind final wild cards Los Angeles and Seattle), they have won four of their last six games.
Parsons preached for the inclusion of current franchise quarterback Justin Fields. The long-scrutinized 11th pick of the 2021 draft has endured a roller-coaster third-year campaign but has found a bit of a late rhythm despite injuries. Over his last five appearances, Fields has been responsible for six total touchdowns and 1,293 yards through the air and on the ground. “I think Justin Fields has come along (in) a lot of ways,” Parsons said.

Yet, they will continue to add talent, improve, and be a competitive playoff club because of their draft cap, ability to acquire additional players, and large amount of money available to them in free agency.” As Parsons suggested, Chicago may part ways with head coach Matt Eberflus, who has led the team to a 9-23 record in his two seasons in office.
If they succeed, the Bears may have one of the league’s most alluring head coaching openings. In addition to having two first-round draft selections, the Bears have approximately $63.8 million in cap space, which is the seventh-best total in the league, supporting Parsons’ assertions.
The Cowboys are scheduled to host the NFC North team that equals their finish in the East (currently fellow runner-up Minnesota), thus there’s a chance the Bears will visit AT&T Stadium in 2024. Meanwhile, this Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. CT on ABC/ESPN, Detroit, the previously stated, just crowned division champions, will make their way to Arlington.
