From Dortmund to Dingwall, domestic dominance Celtic’s Sunday mission

From Dortmund to Dingwall, domestic dominance Celtic’s Sunday mission.

The Hoops will meet Don Cowie’s Ross County tomorrow lunchtime, returning to domestic reality from Dortmund to Dingwall.

The Staggies are in mid-table after winning only one of their seven league games this season. The Highlanders have become draw experts, drawing games against Motherwell, Dundee United, St Johnstone, and, most recently, Hearts.

The Hoops have won their last five games at Global Energy Stadium. This streak now totals 11 games, including matchups at Celtic Park. The last time Ross County beat Celtic was in February 2021, during Neil Lennon’s last game as Celtic manager.

Brendan Rodgers is expected to rotate ahead of tomorrow’s game. Due to defensive injuries to Alistair Johnston (who will travel), Greg Taylor, and Cameron-Carter Vickers (all of whom are out and will not travel), Alex Valle and Anthony Ralston will most likely slot into the back four, while Auston Trusty will start again.

Other rotations are expected to occur; Adam Idah is yet to start a league game since his permanent return to the club in the summer. So may James Forrest and Luke McCowan, who have made cameo cameos in recent weeks.

With this being Celtic’s final competitive game before another international break, Brenda Rodgers would have an excellent opportunity to make multiple changes. Freshness is essential after a tough lesson in Germany’s Champions League.

The build-up will lead directly to the strikers. Young Ronan Hale has performed admirably since joining from Cliftonville, scoring three goals in seven games, and I’m confident he’ll be eager to face Celtic.

Rodgers continued: “there always tough games, tight pitch, we’ll have a great support there, and we aim to get back on track with a high performance level of what we’ve shown and look to bounce back with a good victory, but we know up there it’s always tough.”

Celtic will be seeking to extend their flawless start to the league season with three points, making it seven from seven.
