Phil Parkinson now knows three Wrexham players he must start against Northampton Town.
Phil Parkinson must make some alterations to his starting lineup when Wrexham face Northampton Town.
Wrexham’s 1-0 loss against Stevenage on Tuesday, October 1st, dropped them to second place in League One, behind Birmingham City.
Phil Parkinson’s team has only won two of their previous five league games, including a draw against Leyton Orient and a loss to Birmingham City, which are likely disappointing for owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.
Wrexham’s away form is terrible, and the majority of their disappointing performances in 2024/25 have been on the road.
They face Northampton Town at the Racecourse Ground this weekend, who are also struggling with only one win in their previous five games.
Wrexham will face Northampton at 3pm on October 5th. Here are three players Parkinson could consider bringing back into the starting lineup.
Paul Mullin
Paul Mullin began on the Wrexham bench for their trip to Broadhall Way on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old was out for the first half of the season due to injury and has yet to score in the league.
However, after failing to score in their past two games, Parkinson may consider recalling Wrexham’s all-time leading scorer this weekend.
Mullin is the ideal option for Steven Fletcher, who is no longer capable of starting for Wrexham following his performance against Stevenage.
Elliot Lee
Elliott Lee, like Mullin, was unexpectedly benched for Wrexham in their most recent match.
Lee, rated ‘amazing’, has started the season in good form, scoring three goals in eight League One games, the joint-second-most of any Wrexham player in 2024/25.
Andy Cannon
Parkinson experimented with a new-look midfield in Wrexham’s previous game, with James McClean on the left alongside George Evans and George Dobson.
Andy Cannon was dropped for the game, but will need to return against Northampton.
McClean will likely return to his preferred defensive role this weekend, while Evans is expected to miss a significant amount of time due to an injury sustained on Tuesday.
