Insider pitches trade that swaps Davante Adams for younger $120 million WR

The Las Vegas Raiders are facing a difficult situation after Davante Adams sought a trade. He’s their best offensive player, and losing him would leave the team extremely thin at wide receiver.

However, there may be a way for the Raiders to accommodate Adams’ desire while remaining strong at wide receiver.Brandon Aiyuk, a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, previously attended Arizona State, where Antonio Pierce was an assistant coach.

They have an excellent relationship, and there may be mutual interest in reconciling. Mike Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle proposed an outright exchange between the two teams.

“Speaking of shopping, it’s now clear that the Raiders are preparing to part with Adams, a three-time All-Pro who has reportedly requested a trade,” Silver tweeted on October 2. “Among the teams identified as potential bidders are the Jets, Saints, Bills, and Steelers, but I’d like to humbly urge that another be added to the list.

“Hear me out: Bring the kid from East Palo Alto home and put him in a scarlet and gold uniform, while sending Aiyuk, a former high school star in Reno, back to the Silver State.”

Adams would be able to join a Super Bowl contender with a high-powered offence, while the Raiders could get a younger wide receiver. Adams requires a new deal, whereas Aiyuk has recently signed one worth $120 million. It will be difficult to determine the cost, but both the Raiders and 49ers have plenty of salary cap space to work with.

Brandon Aiyuk Makes a Lot of Sense in Las Vegas

Aiyuk makes far more sense for the Raiders right now than Adams does. He is more than five years younger than Adams and grew up in Reno, Nevada. He previously mentioned that he spent a lot of time in Las Vegas growing up.

In addition, his relationship with Pierce is beneficial. Now, he’s not as good as Adams. He has never had more than 78 catches in a season, but he is extremely productive and fits the Raiders’ timeline much better. This deal is doubtful, but Las Vegas should seize the opportunity if it arises.

Davante Adams Willing to Go to a Number of Teams

When Adams’ trade request was announced, many immediately thought of the New York Jets. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, that is his desired destination.

“If Davante Adams gets his wish, he’ll eventually be a member of the New York Jets, playing with his friend and four-time NFL Most Valuable Player, Aaron Rodgers,” Rapoport wrote in an email.

“The Raiders star wants to play in New York after alerting the organisation on Monday that he would prefer to be dealt, according to various sources. However, Adams has not asked as much from Las Vegas, and this is not a situation like Rodgers’ in 2023, when the quarterback informed the Packers that he would only play for the Jets.

However, he is open to playing for a variety of teams and is not limited to New York.

“In fact, according to sources informed of Adams’ thinking, he is open to playing for several other teams,” reported Rapoport. “The New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and perhaps the San Francisco 49ers are among teams that either have enquired about the six-time Pro Bowler or are places Adams would be happy landing.”
