Leeds United and 49ers Enterprises have reached an agreement for one player to travel to Elland Road this summer.
Leeds eye Phillips reunion as 49ers plan for busy summer window
The Whites are in the Championship run-in, competing with Sheffield United and Burnley for one of two automatic promotion positions.
Daniel Farke’s side’s 17-game unbeaten streak came to an end against Portsmouth on Sunday, and they now have only nine games remaining.
Leeds United’s upcoming Championship fixtures | Date |
Queens Park Rangers (a) | March 15th |
Swansea City (h) | March 29th |
Luton Town (a) | April 5th |
Middlesbrough (a) | April 8th |
Preston North End (h) | April 12th |
Away from the pitch, the 49ers appear to be working behind the scenes on prospective Premier League targets, should Leeds succeed in regaining promotion to the top tier after being relegated two years earlier.
Leeds are rumoured to be interested in signing many players this summer, including academy product Kalvin Phillips.
The central midfielder, who Leeds sold to Manchester City for more than £40 million in 2022, hasn’t had the impact he expected at the Etihad.
Phillips has only made 31 appearances for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola and has been loaned out to West Ham and Ipswich Town in his nearly three-year tenure.
Phillips, who currently plays at Portman Road, has been linked with a return to Leeds United if the Whites win promotion. An update has now emerged.
Leeds reach verbal agreement to sign Kalvin Phillips
TEAMtalk reports that Leeds have made a verbal arrangement with Phillips to return to Elland Road if Farke’s side improves. Even if Ipswich stay in the Premier League, Phillips is unlikely to make a permanent move, and a return to Yorkshire is possible, according to the update.
