Birmingham City issue statement on Bolton Wanderers fixture amid Aston Villa clash

Birmingham City issue statement on Bolton Wanderers fixture amid Aston Villa clash.

The question of whether or not to reschedule a Birmingham City match has been decided.

Despite a conflict with Aston Villa, Birmingham City’s scheduled Tuesday, October 22 encounter against Bolton Wanderers will

proceed as scheduled.

By the end of the month, there will be two professional matches taking place at The Second City, drawing in four sets of supporters.

While the Claret and Blue play Bologna in the UEFA Champions League, the Blues are playing at home against promotion rivals
Bolton Wanderers in a League One match at St Andrew’s.

The two fields are just about 2.4 miles apart, and the time between the start of the two games is about 15 minutes. Birmingham plays

the Whites at 7.45 p.m., and the Villains play Bologna at 8 p.m., fifteen minutes after Birmingham kicks off.

“We can also confirm that there will be no change to our home fixture against Bolton Wanderers, scheduled to take place at St.

Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Tuesday October 22nd (7:45pm KO).” the club wrote in a post made from the Birmingham City

Supporter Updates account.

The news comes as a surprise as Aston Villa and Birmingham City tend to avoid playing on the same day. Football matches usually

have some kind of police presence at matches, and so the West Midlands Police will be stretched across two matches later this month.

The emphasis on fixtures not being relocated has increased as a result of the new Sky Sports TV agreement; nonetheless, local police

forces have the authority to seek changes, such as changing the kick-off time or maybe a date.

Regarding ticketing, Bolton Wanderers have not yet disclosed the number of fans that will be traveling from Greater Manchester.

There can be no more than 2,227 supporters at St Andrew’s.

On Wednesday, October 3, an estimated 3,000 Bologna supporters traveled from northern Italy to watch their team play Liverpool in

the Champions League. Villa Park’s away end can accommodate up to 3,000 spectators. 38,991 people were expected to attend the

Aston Villa vs. Bayern Munich match.

Birmingham may see a concentration of fewer than 64,000 football fans at any particular time, depending on the number of

supporters each of Bolton Wanderers and Bologna brings to the city. Tuesday’s match between Birmingham and Huddersfield Town

drew 24,757 spectators; nevertheless, Bolton may have traveled in greater numbers because the Terriers only gathered in under 1,000

supporters.
