Giants utility James Peatling to leave for Crows

James Peatling of Greater Western Sydney is expected to go to South Australia after requesting a trade to Adelaide.

Peatling, who is out of contract this season, declined a long-term offer from the Giants to join teammate Isaac Cumming with the Crows.

St Kilda, West Coast, Collingwood, Melbourne, and the Western Bulldogs were allegedly interested in the Giants academy product before he made his request on Thursday.
Peatling rose to prominence after a standout season in the GWS midfield.

The Sydney native made 19 appearances for the senior team this season after being selected as a mid-season rookie in 2021.

Peatling was undoubtedly one of the greatest Giants players in their five-point semi-final loss to eventual premiers Brisbane, nullifying Dayne Zorko and scoring twice on his first two touches.

He has played 45 games for the Giants and is the most recent player to leave.

Collingwood will sign free agent Harry Perryman, while veteran defender Nick Haynes, 32, is anticipated to join Carlton.

Meanwhile, Adam Kennedy, the Giants’ first player, retired earlier this week after 153 games with the club.

Kennedy did not play in the 2024 season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament for the second time last year.
