Pundit tips West Brom over Norwich City in race to sign in-demand Lincoln City player

West Bromwich Albion, according to pundit Carlton Palmer, would be the ideal destination for Lincoln City midfielder Ethan

Erhahon, who is rumored to be drawing interest from many Championship teams.

Along with Burnley, Norwich City, and Hull City, West Brom is one of four second-tier teams considering a move for Erhahon ahead of

the January transfer window, according to TBR.

Erhahon came to the Imps in January from Scottish team St Mirren, and he had a fantastic season the previous year as Michael

Skubala’s team just lost out on the League One play-offs.

Skubala referred to the 23-year-old as “the best number six in the league by a mile” after he won the Players’ Player and Fans’ Player of

the Season trophies for the previous season.

Erhahon did stay at Sincil Bank, despite Skubala’s admission that he thought Lincoln would find it difficult to hang onto him this

summer. Director of football Jez George stated that he would be “amazed” if the midfield player did not end up becoming the club’s

record sale when he eventually left.

Palmer: West Brom would be the best fit for Ethan Erhahon

Palmer, in an exclusive interview with Football League World, stated that although Erhahon would see more playing time at teams like

Norwich or Hull, he thinks the former Scotland Under-21 international would be better off moving to West Brom.

“A host of Championship clubs are running the rule over Lincoln’s Ethan Erhahon ahead of the January transfer window,” Palmer stated.

“The 23-year-old is off to a tremendous start to the season, drawing interest from teams like Burnley, West Brom, Norwich, and Hull.

“The midfielder, who signed with the Imps in January 2023, has developed into a premier player over the last eighteen months,

winning the club’s Player of the Year award for his efforts.

“Several elite Championship clubs have taken notice of him and are thinking about making an offer in the new year.

He’s one of the players who has changed dramatically since Michael Skubala took over, and the management needs him to succeed this year.

He is the kind of midfield player who you would assume might thrive on a better team since he is quite at ease in possession and in his placement.

“However, Lincoln is naturally ambitious and wants a promotion.

“The guy is destined for greater things and may easily play in the Championship, as they have acknowledged, but they want him to

remain focused because January is still a long way off.

“He’s still only 23 so he’s somewhere off his peak, he’s just got to stay focused for now, keep doing what he’s doing, and interest is going to grow.

“Where’s the best fit for him? It’s going to be interesting because the teams that are coming in for him are all up at the top end of the

Championship, they’re going to be pushing to get promotion to the Premier League.

“What he doesn’t want to do is move from Lincoln, make that step up and not play.

 

“You need to consider where you’ll be able to play a significant role in the team; you don’t want to move from Lincoln and sit on the bench; you want to keep improving.

There’s a greater possibility of making the first team if you play for a team like Norwich or Hull, who, in my opinion, won’t be in the running for automatic promotion.

“Carlos Corberan has not shied away from starting a young player at West Brom, despite the fact that Norwich is known for playing young players.

“I wouldn’t mind seeing him join West Brom; I believe he could blend in with their playing philosophy and be a valuable addition to them in their.

Ethan Erhahon facing big decision as Championship interest grows

Palmer is correct that if Erhahon decides to go on to the championship in January, he needs to be assured consistent playing time, and

this will probably play a significant role in his decision to stay in Lincoln.

Erhahon could perform in the second division without a doubt, but since the Imps are one of the early favorites to get promoted in

League One, he might choose to stay at Sincil Bank and consider his options in the summer.

However, Erhahon might find it difficult to decline a sizable offer if he has the chance to join a Championship team, especially one like

West Brom or Burnley that has serious promotion hopes.

Palmer’s assertion that Erhahon would thrive at Albion and that Carlos Corberan would be the ideal manager for him to grow under is

hard to argue with, but he might not play as much as he does at The Hawthorns at first.
