Norwich City: FC Nordsjaelland’s Arnac to join Canaries
Johannes Hoff Thorup has lined up his former FC Nordsjaelland first team analyst Alan Arac to join Norwich City.
The Danish Superliga team has stated that Arac would join Norfolk after working closely with Thorup during his last tenure in charge.
Arac joined FCN in February 2022, having previously worked in youth football with AGF and as an assistant coach for Lyngby’s Under-19s.
City has yet to confirm the news, although Arac is likely to take over ahead of the Championship’s resumption following the international break.
“It has been three fantastic years, where all of the experiences have been incredibly educational and challenging both professionally and personally,” Arac told FCN’s official website. “I’ve been a part of many things that have exceeded my expectations, including playing in Europe, competing for medals and titles, and avoiding relegation.
“FC Nordsjaelland is a unique club.” Everyone in and around the club works hard every day, and it’s an encouraging environment to be a part of. I understand he doesn’t want it, but I have to pick out Flemming Pedersen. His passion for football has been a major motivation, and he has always been willing to answer my questions, for which I am eternally thankful.
“It’s been a pleasure to be a part of a club that not only claims to want to develop young players, but also demonstrates it every day.” The caliber of players who have played for FCN throughout my three years there is still a source of pride for me.
“Now, new challenges await me in England, which I am naturally excited about, but I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the club. I am forever grateful for all that has happened over the last three years.”
FCN has previously confirmed that Christoffer Karne, the under-14s head coach, will replace Arac.
“First and foremost, I’d like to thank Alan for his excellent work and contributions to the Superliga staff,” said Phil Radley, director of football. “He has been an invaluable asset both on and off the field, and we shall miss his sense of humour and sharp intellect. We wish him great success in the future.
“We are delighted to send Alan go to a successful career, and we are equally excited to welcome Karne to the Superliga crew. This summer, Christian Sørensen transitioned from under-17 head coach to assistant coach on the Superliga squad, demonstrating the common practice of internal recruitment.
“We have great faith in Christoffer’s abilities, as he has demonstrated on our U14 boys’ team that he has a keen eye for detail, which we hope to benefit from at Superliga level.” Despite his young age, we believe he can carry on Alan’s heritage and establish a great team with Thor and the rest of the Superliga personnel.”
The Uefa A-licence holder is the most recent addition to Thorup’s backroom staff at Colney, following the high-profile appointment of new first-team coach Jack Wilshere to replace Stoke manager Narcis Pelach.
Following the exits of Andy Hughes and Paul Clements, Nick Stanley and Tony Roberts were hired as senior coaches.
Carl Pope took over as the Canaries’ head of performance analysis in August. Harrison Glew, the club’s former performance analyst, also left for Stoke City in September to work with Pelach.
