RUBÉN SAYS: “WE NEED THE NOISE ON TUESDAY.”

Rubio Sellés, the manager of Reading, praised his team’s tenacity and resolve after their tenacious 2-1 comeback victory over

Huddersfield on Saturday at Select Car Leasing Stadium. After falling behind, the Royals fought back, but goals from Ben Elliott and

Harvey Knibbs sealed the three points.

In reviewing the game, Sellés commended his team’s physicality in the face of a goal deficit as well as their intensity in coming back. In

addition to thanking the fans, the boss urged them to raise their voices in anticipation of Tuesday night’s match against Burton.

“I believe we played well, but it was a really tough game against talented opponents. We made an effort to dominate and control the

ball, particularly in the first half.

Being down 1-0 was a tough time for us, but I believe we handled it well and applied solid counterpressure, which is what we do best.

Then, in the second half, we were certain that there would be opportunities; the only question was if we could seize them, which we

thankfully did.

We nearly had a one-on-one opportunity with Adrain [Akande] to score the third goal after we scored the second, but they played

excellent defense. We also knew that their team would take a very direct approach in the final ten to fifteen minutes, so we played

excellent defense against them.

I didn’t think Huddersfield looked particularly powerful even after we took the lead, and I believed that the game was evenly balanced

as soon as we equalized. They had a few set plays, and we made more mistakes than they did, but we did a good job defending.

We prepared in advance for how we would take chances against them and took some time to set up our positions for key points in the

game.

Although the players on our roster are young, they are all getting a ton of experience. Their resilience on Saturday is not surprising,

given they have experienced a great deal in the past 16–17 months and are skilled football players who can compete in this league.

They have been constructing that unity for over a year now, and as a team, that is where we are and where we intend to be as we work

to be the greatest team.

We are aware of the upcoming hectic schedule, but it is still crucial to celebrate the victory, take care of ourselves, train as best we can,

and be ready for the next one.

Burton are in a similar moment to us, a very young team, who have been changing with limited squad capacity. They like to play a

similar style of football as we play, it’s going to be a difficult game, looking to pick up their first win.

It’s going to be a really difficult game; maybe not as competitive as the challenge we encountered over the weekend, but nonetheless

challenging because they will come at us with a lot of energy and persistence.

I want to thank everyone who has supported us during my time here. We really needed the strong turnout on Saturday, and hopefully

we put on a show that made them proud of our team’s tenacity and resolve.

We can do amazing things when we work together, therefore, on Tuesday, we need more and more support. We also need the pitch to

be much louder.
