The heartbroken brother of the Baggies fan who died at the game has sent a touching tribute.

The bereaved brother of the West Bromwich Albion fan who died at Sheffield Wednesday yesterday has offered a moving tribute.

Baggie Steve posted on X, formerly Twitter, at 1 a.m. about his brother Mark’s death, who had gone to Hillsborough Stadium with his nephew, and the tweet was seen by nearly 400,000 people.

The West Bromwich Albion fan has received support from football fans nationwide, with many commenting and sharing the message.

He stated, “My heart is absolutely torn; my son witnessed my brother’s death and the loss of an uncle, and he is left with those memories.

“I’ve had to tell my parents and his wife. My brother adored the baggies; he was my best friend, and attending a game will never be the same.

Robbie Fowler, a former England and Liverpool player, was among many who sent Steve their best wishes.

He responded: “Sorry for yours and the families loss, thoughts and prayers with you all, God bless.”

Nick the Baggie said, “A devastating time for you and your family; I hope your son can recover from witnessing such a horrible thing happen in front of him.” The entire Albion family is thinking of you during this really difficult time. God bless you, Steve.

Paul Hemming, a fan of Sheffield Wednesday, tweeted: “From a Wednesdayite, very sad to hear the passing of your brother I was at the match, and our condolences go out to you all, football is always secondary at times like this, i hope your son can get over this, our thoughts go with you.”

Jason Murray said, “Steve, I’m surprised to hear about Mark! I can’t image how your lad felt then and now!

“I loved Mark, his chuckle was contagious, and we always had a fantastic conversation; I’ll miss those after 28 years of friendship. Please extend my best wishes to you, Maz, especially your son and parents! “RIP, Mate.”

West Bromwich Albion issued a statement yesterday regarding the unfortunate death, stating: “West Bromwich Albion Football Club is devastated to learn of the tragic departure of a supporter following a medical incident during Saturday’s encounter at Sheffield Wednesday.

“The club has contacted the supporter’s family to express its condolences and begs that they be allowed to grieve discreetly.

“The thoughts of all of us will remain with the supporter’s loved ones at this desperately sad time.”

Manager Carlos Carlos Corberán and other staff members have expressed their condolences.
