Nottingham Forest vs. Man City: Does Erling Haaland’s record spell trouble for the Tricky Trees?
Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s top scorer, will try to increase his total when the Citizens visit the City Ground on Saturday lunchtime to play top-four rivals Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
Just over a week ago, the Norwegian scored the lone goal in City’s close 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. It was his 20th goal of the season in the Premier League and his 28th goal overall.
Haaland has won the Premier League Golden boot in the last two seasons and remains in contention to win a third, although he is currently placed five goals behind Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah at the top of the charts.

Erling Haaland has played five competitive games against Nottingham Forest since joining Manchester City in the summer of 2022. All five games have taken place in the Premier League, and he has helped the Citizens win four of them and draw one.
In that time, the Norwegian has scored five goals, including a spectacular hat-trick in the first half of the Citizens’ 6-0 home triumph over the Tricky Trees in August 2022, his first-ever appearance.
Six months later, in the rematch at the City Ground, Forest held Man City to a 1-1 draw, and Haaland failed to put his name on the scoreboard.
Man City defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 at home and away during the 2023–24 season, and Haaland scored twice. He headed home the second goal in their first victory at the Etihad and then scored the second goal again, this time less than ten minutes after entering the game as a substitute, in the away victory.
The last time Haaland faced Nottingham Forest, it was in December 2024, when Man City won 3-0 at home. Despite failing to score, City’s number nine set up Jeremy Doku to score the game’s third goal for the home team.
