West Ham United to reignite Rayan Cherki transfer interest as Lyon fire sale mooted
Lyon player Rayan Cherki has long been admired by West Ham, and they may have just been given a fantastic
chance to finally sign him.
Although a move to the London Stadium never happened, the Hammers were reported to have shown interest in
the 21-year-old during the summer transfer window [Get French Football News].
Said Benrahma, a former Irons winger, actually signed a £15 million contract to join Cherki in Ligue 1 with Lyon;
however, both players may now be moved before the January transfer window opens.
According to RMC Sport [14 November], John Textor, a co-owner of Crystal Palace, owns Lyon, which is required
to furnish a specific number of guarantees pertaining to an amount above £83 million (€100 million).
Debt has put the French team in a terrible position, and there have already been rumours that a few players would
be sold. Cherki might be one given the interest in him and his possible cost.

Having progressed through the Lyon academy, Cherki has already made 152 appearances in the first squad at the age of 21, recording 19 goals and 28 assists.

Cherki, who was once called “unbelievable” by Frank Leboeuf [Metro], may be a possibility for Julen Lopetegui,
who will be anxious to add another creative force to his team during the January transfer window.
Despite Lyon’s desperate efforts to earn money in order to avoid any financial penalties, the player may be
available on a cut-price contract given their current situation.
After a challenging start to the 2024–25 season, the 21-year-old might give the Hammers a completely new
attacking outlet, making this a potentially significant acquisition.
