Kasper Schmeichel, who is nearing the twilight of his career, has had a great first season at Celtic Park thus far.
As the Hoops aim for a fourth consecutive title, the Dane, who won the Premier League as a member of the legendary Leicester City squad of 2016, took Joe Hart’s spot in goal last summer.
Schmeichel, who is 38 years old, has competed in four major international tournaments, won a Premier League title, and played in four different European top flights.
However, in this week’s ‘Stick to Football’ episode, the Danish goalie acknowledged to Roy Keane that his transfer to Celtic has totally rekindled his passion for the game.
The fact that two of the regular panelists, Roy Keane and Gary Neville, were colleagues of his father Peter during Manchester United’s heyday in the 1990s added an interesting element to the discussion.
The panel discussed Leicester’s historic 2016 title win, the ever-evolving responsibilities of being Peter Schmeichel’s son, and the ever-changing criteria for modern goalkeepers in an engaging hour-long podcast.
Roy Keane, a former Celtic player, had the opportunity to question Schmeichel about his experience at the club at the end of the conversation.
Even though he is nearing the end of his career, the Celtic goalie acknowledged that moving to Glasgow has rekindled his love for the game and that he was eager to play every few days.
Keane enjoyed the Irishman’s response, and he made a great point about the links between Celtic and his native country.
