Neil McCann criticized Vaclav Cerny in real time on Sky Sports for doing a “terrible thing” as Rangers held on for a suspenseful 1-0 victory over Hibs. The pundit reacted in real time during the match on September 29 in the 48th minute as the Czech winger won possession on the right flank deep in his own half, then played a careless, weak pass towards James Tavernier that Junior Hoilett easily intercepted. Cerny’s careless play was indicative of his increasingly disappointing form, despite the Light Blues overall improving.
The 26-year-old was one of the standout players of the first few weeks of the season. Clement limited his playing time, and his superb winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Motherwell at Hampden Park on August 10 seemed to portend good things to come.
