Gordon received a straight red card for raising his hands in the face of Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke and will earn a three-game suspension. Magpies manager Eddie Howe stated after the game that the club would not hesitate to appeal the judgement, stating Gordon had no desire to “harm the player,” but has now decided against that course of action.
