Family of missing man makes appeal as Chippenham search goes on

The parents of a man who was last seen at a Chippenham pub have spoken out as the search for their son enters its sixth day.

Sebastian Sailes, 21, was last seen on the evening of Thursday, February 27 at 11.30pm, leaving the Black Horse Pub in Chippenham.

Police say he was captured on CCTV heading towards Lovers Walk, and is thought to have then headed south along Avon Valley Walk towards his home address in Notton.

Sebastian is described as white, around 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, with blonde/brown hair with a long fringe.

“The public support has been heart-warming, and we ask to anyone who may have information to contact Wiltshire Police immediately, in the hope that our lovely baby is returned to us safe and sound.”

County Chief Inspector Ben Huggins said: “We continue to ask anyone who has seen Sebastian or knows where he is to contact us.

“Most of our inquiries have focused on the river, but we are also looking into the potential that he has made his way to Rowden Hill and through the new estates.

“If you reside in that region and have any Ring Doorbell footage from about the time he vanished, check it for any evidence of him.

“Delivery drivers or taxi drivers would have been out in Chippenham around that time, and we would appreciate it if you could check your dash cams for any signs of him.

“I would also like to thank the volunteers from Wiltshire Search and Rescue and other search agencies from the southwest who have come to the area for the time and energy they have put into the search for missing Seb.”

On Monday, County Chief Inspector Ben Huggins stated, “I can confirm that the body of a man was discovered this morning in the River Avon.” His next of kin have been notified, and our prayers are with them.

“We appreciate that this development will cause alarm among the public.

“I want to assure you that Sebastian’s disappearance and the finding of this man’s body are unrelated, and the hunt for Sebastian will continue today.
