‘Dare I say it’… Kris Boyd names the ex-Rangers star who Nedim Bajrami reminds him of.
Nedim Bajrami, according to Kris Boyd, appears to be the key to Rangers’ comeback following a dismal start to the season.
On transfer deadline day, the Albanian was acquired from Sassuolo for £3.4 million, a move that most Rangers supporters on the night were likely startled by.
Additionally, Bajrami has recently put on some outstanding performances for Philippe Clement’s team, seemingly living up to his high price tag.
Boyd shares this viewpoint and believes that although Rangers’ season has started gloomily, Bajrami is showing signs of promise.
In his weekly piece for The Scottish Sun, the former Ibrox striker even went so far as to compare the 25-year-old to deft winger Ryan Kent, who used to terrorize defences in the Scottish Premiership.

Boyd noted, “Nedim Bajrami specializes in early starts.” He surpassed the Euros record in June, scoring for Albania against Italy in just 23 seconds.
“On Thursday night, he put the Rangers ahead in Malmo after 56 seconds. He’s swiftly winning over Gers fans, who were eager for a spark of new optimism.
“Make no mistake, Bajrami entered a maelstrom of hostility when he signed from Sassuolo on transfer deadline day. Rangers were kicked out of Ibrox and eliminated from the Champions League.
“They were the only Premiership team that didn’t beat Hearts. Two days after his arrival, the Gers were humiliated at Celtic Park, leaving them five points behind the champions.
“The negativity at the club was growing faster than the development of the Copland Stand. I was arguably at the center of the criticism.
“Gers needed someone to lift them out of their depression, and Bajrami could be that man. He demonstrated some of his class in 45 minutes at Tannadice.
“And he impressed again with his 75-minute performance against Dundee when the Gers returned to Ibrox last Saturday night.”
“Bajrami isn’t a natural winger and appears to be better suited to a No.10 role. But the way he plays allows Jefte or Neraysho Kasanwirjo to go around him on the left side.
“He generates room for teammates and, dare I say it, possesses similar traits to Ryan Kent.
“Kent was never an out-and-out winger, but he came in and caused issues. He left the right-back, right centre-back, and midfielder wondering who should pick him up.
“Bajrami can pick up little pockets of space, is extremely good on the ball, enjoys taking shots, and makes a variety of creative passes.
“I am confident he will go overboard at times. Consider his return pass to Cyriel Dessers before halftime in Malmo, when he really needed to take the shot himself.
“But Bajrami could be the spark of optimism that Gers fans are looking for right now. They’ve definitely been looking for a spark this season.”
Bajrami was a standout vs Malmo
Bajrami’s greatest game in a Rangers shirt so far was definitely the 2-0 win against Malmo, with FotMob awarding him a match rating of 8.4.
Rangers fans were ecstatic when he scored in less than a minute at the Eleda Stadion, propelling the club to an excellent away win in the Europa League.
Bajrami created four chances on the night, and all of his shots were on target. He appears to be the man who will open doors for Rangers this season, so keeping him healthy and prepared will be critical.
He has a long way to go before reaching Kent’s level, but he could be a better goal threat than the former Liverpool youth, which he battled with near the conclusion of his Rangers tenure.
