Following the 46-year-old striker’s passing, Dundee has honored Fabian Caballero.

According to reports, the Paraguayan, who was a member of the Dens Park team from 2000 to 2005, passed out during a futsal tournament in his native country.

In South America, Caballero represented Cerro Porteno, Serro Portino, Atletico Tembetary, Sol de America, and Tacuary. He also had a brief stint at Arsenal, making one appearance for the Gunners. In 2003, while with Dundee, he won a medal for finishing second in the Scottish Cup.

Renowned with the Dundee supporters, Caballero made a comeback in November of last year to participate in Cammy Kerr’s testimonial. A memorial service for Caballero will be held by Dundee prior to this afternoon’s Premiership game at Dens Park versus Aberdeen.

Dundee released the following statement on social media: “We at Dundee Football Club are deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of former Dundee player Fabián Caballero this morning.”

At the age of 46, Fabian went away, and the entire Dundee Football Club community will mourn him terribly. When Fabián joined The Dee in July 2000, Dundee supporters took a special liking to him.

“During this extremely difficult time, Fabián’s family is in everyone’s thoughts at the club.

The team will honor Fabián in full later today. Peace be with you, Fabián.
