Carlos Soler is scheduled to make his Premier League debut for West Ham United against Brentford on Saturday.
Julen Lopetegui is poised to call in Edson Alvarez, the summer acquisition from PSG, for the trip to West London following his red card against Liverpool in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup defeat.
Soler played 78 minutes in a more advanced role but might line up deeper in the midfield with Tomas Soucek this weekend. Jarrod Bowen will lead the line up top due to Niclas Fullkrug’s Achilles issues and Danny Ings’ quiet showing against his former club.
Lopetegui might make up to six changes from the defeat at Anfield, with Alphonse Areola replacing Lukasz Fabianski in goal and Max Kilman remaining in defence.
Carlos Soler will start for West Ham in the Premier League.
If Soler is picked to play in the center duo against Brentford, it will be his best chance to build a claim yet, since Guido Rodriguez was favored earlier in the season but had little effect.
According to the Evening Standard [26 September], the Spanish international is expected to start against Thomas Frank’s team and maintain his position until Wednesday.
As Lopetegui places the skipper through the center to drive the attack, Crysencio Summerville on the left side is set to be given another chance, with Mohammed Kudus on the right.
Something needs to change in the Hammers squad as Lopetegui continues to find out his most notable XI, while dealing with injury and suspension issues.
West Ham’s defence must improve.
After losing comprehensively to Liverpool, West Ham are expected to resort to a back four against Chelsea, despite the defending was as poor last weekend.
Despite inconsistency, Konstantinos Mavropanos has been favored opposite Kilman in the league and should come back in for Jean-Clair Todibo. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Emerson are the most viable full-back alternatives and will return.
Todibo, a French international, has not shone when called upon by Lopetegui. Although a full game in midweek will improve his freshness, Jamie Redknapp criticized his defense against Liverpool as “terrible”.
West Ham expected XI vs Brentford.
Vladimir Coufal’s form is deteriorating, but Aaron Cresswell played a critical 90 minutes against Anfield as he works to regain his fitness. Coufal, Cresswell, and Todibo are quite likely to return to the bench.
Over the previous week, the Bees have surrendered eight goals, which is unsustainable. A weaker offense might lead to changes in the upcoming weekend.
