There is no doubt that Celtic will already have plans in place for next season.
Because of the Champions League qualifications that will take place before the season begins, it is critical that the powers that be get things done quickly and assist Brendan Rodgers.
Despite progressing in Europe this season, Celtic will need to go through a qualifying process due to Scotland’s lower coefficient over time.
That is why the summer transfer window must be successful, as the club did not fare well during the winter season.
Celtic have a clear opportunity to improve by signing the proper players.
Greg Taylor has been the primary left-back this season until the arrival of Jeffrey Schlupp in January.
Jeffrey Schlupp won’t have better options than to play for Celtic next season
Celtic has a great opportunity to sign Schlupp for the upcoming season, as Taylor is set to go without a new contract.
The 32-year-old is now at Glasgow on loan from Crystal Palace until the end of the season, but Michael Stewart believes the champions will ‘put a deal in place’ for the player.
Furthermore, Stewart believes Schlupp will have no better options than returning to Celtic next season because he is ‘doing nothing at Crystal Palace’, as he told Premier Sports.
“From Jeffrey Schlupp’s perspective, oh my word,” Stewart added. “You’re sitting on your backside doing nothing at Crystal Palace.
“Or you’re up at Celtic, playing games against Bayern Munich and potentially winning. Enjoy your football.
“In the summer, I believe Celtic will make an offer to sign him. His decision is ‘what better option are you going to get?’.
“You might not play every week, but Celtic has so many games. He will play a significant number of games if he signs on.”
Schlupp has ‘fitted into’ Brendan Rodgers’ system at Celtic
Despite playing fewer than 200 minutes for Palace this season, Schlupp has joined Celtic, hasn’t appeared out of place, and is now the starting left back.
Schlupp’s performance in Munich demonstrated his potential, and he has since made significant progress, scoring his first goal for Celtic against St Mirren on Saturday.
Stewart emphasised the versatile star’s skills and how fast he has ‘integrated into the system’ that Rodgers has implemented.
“That’s the interesting thing about Schlupp because he can play up one,” Stewart joked.
“He is quite comfortable stepping in on the inside, where Greg Taylor and the team prefer to play anyhow. He adapted to the system right away.
“You indicated that the Tierney deal was completed. I believe I saw Peter Lawwell mention it in the accounts and say they have a deal in place for Tierney to come.”
