Scott Brown, a Celtic icon, had recently made headlines, and it appeared that he could be in the St Johnstone dugout tomorrow.
The Bhoys travel to Perth hoping to maintain their Scottish Premiership lead, although Andy Kirk will now be in the home dugout as Saints struggle to find a manager following Craig Levein’s exit last week.
Brown was a top candidate for the St Johnstone position. After considerable thought, he elected to continue in Ayrshire with the goal of returning the Honest Men to the top division for the first time since 1978.
Late attempts by owner Adam Webb failed to persuade him, and the former Celtic captain has chosen to remain on solid ground rather than make a quick transition to top-flight football.
Since then, more events have occurred, with Brown’s name continuing to be mentioned following a hectic week around his future.
Ayr United evoke Wolf of Wall Street spirit in statement
Brown has signed a new deal with Ayr United until the summer of 2027, according to the club’s official website and a short statement.
It included the following information: “Ayr United can confirm that Scott Brown & Steven Whittaker have signed extended contracts at Somerset Park until 2027.”
Ayr brilliantly reinvented the Wolf of Wall Street ‘I’m not leaving’ scenario in the statement’s background with a photo of Brown’s face instead of Leonardo Di Caprio’s, so thanks to whoever chose to add a little of comedy!
Joking aside, Brown is committed to Somerset Park for the long haul, and having some certainty about his future can only help.

Brown’s experience as a leader on the pitch has been put to use in the dugout at Ayr, where he has led his team to the top of Scotland’s second division.
Of course, it is early in the season, but the thought of potential silverware or promotion will undoubtedly benefit the former Celtic captain’s future job prospects.
Hopefully, he will continue to thrive and be linked to a plethora of managing openings as he climbs the coaching ranks.
