AS Roma fans sent The Friedkin Group clear message last night amid Everton takeover

The Friedkin Group have agreed to complete an Everton takeover.

The Friedkin Group, led by Dan Friedkin, has agreed to buy Everton from Farhad Moshiri after pulling out of a previous purchase in July. TFG has owned Roma since August 2020 and won the Europa Conference League in their first season. However, AS Roma fans have continued to protest against the Friedkin Group’s decision to fire a club legend.

De Rossi was replaced by Ivan Juric, who scored a 3-0 victory over Udinese in his maiden appearance. However, the Roma devout remain dissatisfied with TFG. Before a 1-1 tie against Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League, Friedkin’s billboard showing De Rossi in a club shirt read: ‘De Rossi, pride of Rome, Yankee go home’.

Meanwhile, supporters in the Curva Sud remained mute for the first 15 minutes, failing to display banners in support of the squad. De Rossi’s departure prompted Lina Souloukou, the company’s CEO, to leave as well. Friedkin’s son, Ryan, is currently acting in the post as an interim replacement.

TFG’s Everton buyout is expected to be finalized before the end of the year due to regulatory requirements.
