Aston Villa star warming to Man City and Arsenal as title rivals are turning his head before January

Aston Villa star warming to Man City and Arsenal as title rivals are turning his head before January.

Douglas Luiz has reportedly had his ‘head turned’ by interest in him from elite Premier League clubs including Arsenal and his former side Manchester City.

Luiz has been one of the best players at Villa over the past couple of seasons. Playing under Unai Emery seems to have completely unlocked the creative spark that flickered during previous regimes.

Luiz has bagged five goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, and has been one of the league’s most impressive players.

That’s helped Villa to third in the league at Christmas. However, there’s interest in him from some of the club’s title rivals, namely Arsenal and Man City.

Villa has made it clear that they would not sell, even if they receive an offer greater than £100 million. The recent transfers of Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo, and Enzo Fernandez are the reason for that price tag.

He doesn’t seem to share Villa’s perspective, despite the fact that the team doesn’t want to lose their star player in the midst of the season—probably not at all.

Football Insider reports that Luiz “has had his head turned” by the Premier League’s elite’s interest in him. It is said that he “has no plans to force a move away,” despite the fact that he is intrigued.

That said, the move still seems very unlikely, with Villa not wanting to sell, and Luiz having no problems with remaining unless they accept a bid, which isn’t going to happen any time soon.

According to the article, Luiz would presumably accept a transfer offer to either Arsenal or City without hesitation. That does not imply that he is genuinely engaged.

It’s not a unique perspective, though, as it would be hard to convince anyone to disagree with such points of view.

Given that City has won the league for the past three years running, they are a major appeal for any player. Furthermore, Luiz was previously owned by City but never participated in a game; therefore, their desire for him now indicates that he is prepared to take the step they didn’t think he was ready for.

In any case, it’s likely he’ll remain at Villa for the foreseeable future.
