Leeds United loanee bags goal and assist during impressive display in the Europa League

Kistensen

Leeds United supporters having to watch the players who effectively relegated them from the Premier League in Europe will always be a sore sight.

Following their May 2023 Championship debut, Leeds lost eight players to loan out from their starting lineup. There are just two left at Elland Road: Max Wober and Brennen Aaronson.

Aaronson actually participated in the Champions League the previous season, but he decided swiftly in the summer that he wanted to go back.

Mark Roca, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch, and Luis Sinisterra were the only ones who were able to make permanent moves, leaving Jack Harrison and Rasmus Kristensen.

While Harrison is having a lot of trouble at Everton, who may sign him permanently if they complete their takeover, Kristensen is currently at Eintracht Frankfurt.

What Leeds loanee Rasmus Kristensen did in Europa League for Frankfurt

Even though Kristensen was possibly the least effective player for Leeds on Thursday night, he was actually very impressive for Frankfurt on the European scene.

Like Aaronson and Wober, Kristensen had the chance to go back to Leeds in the summer, but he chose to relocate to Frankfurt instead.

With all due respect, it appears like everyone will gain from this choice. Although Frankfurt’s sporting director has praised Kristensen’s start to life in Germany, Leeds supporters were not thrilled about his return.

He had his best performance to date on an individual basis yesterday night, contributing to Frankfurt’s 3-3 tie with Viktoria Plzen with a goal and an assist.

Kristensen was substituted off with the score at 3-1 on minute 85, giving the impression that his participation had won Frankfurt the match. But in some way, his side lost the lead.

In its player ratings piece published after the game, the Frankfurter Rundschau gave his performance a very high grade.

They wrote: “Rasmus Kristensen: Great pass to Ekitiké before the 1-0, then even got on the scoresheet and made it 3-1. He was delighted about it.”

Frankfurt want Kristensen permanently but on one condition

There’s no way Kristensen will ever come back to Leeds after deciding to leave on loan once more, no matter how well he does in Germany.

Fortunately, Leeds was able to work out a buyout clause in the contract, which will probably be used if he keeps up this kind of play.

Frankfurt, though, is already eager to get back to the negotiating table to discuss the price that was previously decided upon with Leeds.

With just one summer left on his Elland Road contract, Frankfurt is eager to reduce the permanent fee for Kristensen.
