Following his red card for Newcastle United in their FA Cup tie with Brighton & Hove Albion, Anthony Gordon will now miss the club’s upcoming Carabao Cup final.
Newcastle haven’t won a major honour since 1955, and their FA Cup tie with Brighton on Sunday afternoon ended up proving quite problematic.
As mentioned, Newcastle have lost Gordon for at least three games, meaning he’ll also miss a Premier League tie either side of their upcoming final against Liverpool.
Unfortunately, Alexander Isak also appeared to have an injury concern when he was substituted shortly after Gordon’s red card.
There were some positives for Eddie Howe’s side – the return to fitness of Joelinton being one.
However, it ultimately proved to be a costly afternoon for Newcastle at St James’ Park.

That being said, pundit Roy Keane shared his honest thoughts on the incident which saw Gordon sent off when speaking to ITV Football after the game.
Keane took a sympathetic tone with Gordon, admitting that he had also made similar mistakes on a football pitch himself.
Keane said: “There was an incident about maybe one or two minutes before that, it’s obviously frustrating, it’s a moment of madness – I do feel for him, listen I’ve done daft stuff on a football pitch.
“He’s got to take his medicine now, he’s going to be punished with the suspension, he’s obviously an intelligent lad, he just – yeah it is frustration we see it.
“I’m not going to be too harsh on him, it’s daft, he’ll have to take his medicine.”
