Sky Sports Adam Idah has ‘objects thrown at him’ as Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers responds to scenes that are ‘never good’
Rodgers wasn’t happy after objects appeared to be thrown at his striker..
Brendan Rodgers blasted the events in which Adam Idah was hurled items from the Hearts end after scoring his first goal in the 4-1 win, calling them ‘never good.’
Celtic’s Ireland striker, who came off the bench, helped them gain a lead over Aberdeen. The first half was quiet, but Kyogo and Nicolas Kuhn put the Hoops ahead 2-0 after the interval. Idah then scored twice, including Musa Drammeh’s screamer.
After his first goal, he celebrated in front of the Hearts crowd, and Sky Sports reporter Luke Shanley noticed ‘items being hurled’ at the striker, which he reported to the Celtic manager at full-time. When asked if it was a ‘worry,’ Rodgers said coldly: “It’s always a concern. “I didn’t notice that, but it’s never good.”
What was positive for the Hoops manager was that his squad now has a three-point buffer to fall back on after Aberdeen’s defeat to St Mirren earlier on Saturday. The Premiership winners are currently 11 points ahead of their arch rivals Rangers, who dropped points against Dundee United.
Rodgers stated, “We showed some encouraging indicators in the first half, but in the second half, we were much better and cleaner with our possession. If your closest competitors lose points, you should seize the opportunity.
“It’s early in the season, but it’s nice to have the win. This is a really difficult game, but we managed it quite well and earned three points. I’m quite satisfied. We simply have to be focused and intense.”
