Isco sends apology to Real Madrid after winning goal for Real Betis

The match was crucial in the current race for the La Liga title, with the former hoping to surpass arch rivals Barcelona at the top of the league.

When all was said and done, Real Madrid had not accomplished quite as much.

And the aforementioned Isco proved to be important in explaining why.

After Johnny Cardoso cancelled out Brahim Díaz’s opening, Isco scored the game-winner from the penalty spot in the second half.

The former Real Madrid great then led a dramatic celebration, knee-sliding towards the corner flag while surrounded by teammates.

Many former club supporters were surprised by Isco’s decision to celebrate, and they expressed their disappointment.

Speaking to the media following the full-time whistle, the 32-year-old used the chance to apologise:

“I apologise to Real Madrid supporters for my celebration. I am grateful to Real Madrid, and they will always have a place in my heart.”
