Celtic veteran John Hartson criticised fringe player Luis Palma for his poor performance due to cryptic social media posts.
The 24-year-old has struggled to make an impact for the Hoops this season, making his first start during a poor performance in the Premier Sports Cup win over Falkirk. After being hooked after 60 minutes, the Honduran his grievances online and declared his resilience on Instagram, leading some Celtic supporters to compare Palma to former Rangers’ player Todd Cantwell, who was harshly lambasted for his social media remarks during his time at Ibrox.
However, as speculation grew that the winger could be moved on in January, Hartson was disappointed with Palma’s performances in green and white. The Welshman told Go Radio that “he doesn’t make things happen enough.” When he gets the ball, a good winger crosses it in for the strikers to attack, or he can be more positive and get to the byline and cut inside. For me, I’m seeing him think ‘go, make something happen’ and it all goes nowhere. Palma falls short of my expectations as a winger. “He is simply too wasteful.”
When asked if opponents had figured out the wide man, the Celtic icon replied, “He has to figure out a different way to play and make an influence on the team. You can’t simply claim he’s been figured out. It is up to Luis Palma to try something different.”
While one forward fights for his future, the Scottish Premiership champions seem to be considering another deal. According to reports in Sweden, Celtic’s interest in Bazoumana Toure has grown.
According to Fotboll Direkt, the 18-year-old is being scouted by Crystal Palace, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Bayer Leverkusen, with the Hoops showing the biggest interest. Scout Joe Lefevre is said to have visited Stockholm multiple times to watch the Hammarby striker.
