After six rounds of matches this season, Morgan Whittaker is tied for first place in terms of most shots by a Championship player.

The Plymouth Argyle attacker and Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer both have 16 goals, two more than Norwich City’s Josh Sargent, a US international striker. Finn Azaz, currently at Middlesbrough, has 13 shots, the same as Kieffer Moore of Sheffield United, while Elijah Adebayo of Luton Town and Million Manhoef of Stoke City each have 12.

Whittaker forced two brilliant stops from Alex Palmer as the Pilgrims fell 1-0 away to table-topping West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, and he also had a fantastic chance but blasted it over the bar after being set up by Ibrahim Cissoko.

Whittaker has contributed 30.2% of them. Twenty-six of the shots were on target, with Whittaker scoring nine.

Middlesbrough leads in shots with 72, followed by Coventry City (69) and Leeds United (65). The lowest three teams are Portsmouth (35), Preston North End (36), and Swansea City (37).

Meanwhile, the Pilgrims lead the Championship in shot blocks with 41, four more than Portsmouth, while third-placed Oxford United has 31. Leeds are at the bottom of the list, with only nine.

Brendan Galloway of Argyle and Watford’s Francisco Sierralta have the most blocks (10 each), while his teammate Lewis Gibson is third with nine, one more than West Brom’s Kyle Bartley.
